Eight major trends in the development of intelligent manufacturing in China
On December 6, 2023, the 2023 World Intelligent Manufacturing Conference was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Xin Guobin, member of the Party Group and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, attended the opening ceremony of the conference and delivered a speech. Wei Liang, Vice President of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, delivered a keynote speech.
The construction of smart factories, as the main battlefield for promoting the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry, plays an important role in promoting the systematic optimization and comprehensive improvement of the entire product lifecycle, production and manufacturing process, and supply chain. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the State Administration for Market Regulation jointly launched a pilot demonstration action for intelligent manufacturing. From 2021 to 2023, a total of 421 demonstration factory unveiling units and 1541 excellent scenarios were selected, covering 29 provinces, accelerating the application and promotion of the four major industries of raw materials, equipment manufacturing, consumer goods, and electronic information.
The exploration of intelligent manufacturing in our country has formed a typical mode path, which is manifested in eight major application trends. Wei Liang shared about product research and development, factory construction, manufacturing execution, production control, energy consumption emissions, integrated optimization and other links.
Trend one is to combine the entire R&D process with virtual design and data analysis, accelerating innovation in basic materials, high-end products, and advanced processes.Companies such as CATL, Dongfeng Cummins, Tesla, etc. have applied the above methods to improve the efficiency of material, product, and process innovation by 30% to 50%.
Trend two is to combine digital twin modeling, analysis, and the entire lifecycle of factories to optimize and transform factory construction and operation models.Companies such as Haier, Goldwind, and Shougang use digital twins to shorten factory construction cycles and reduce maintenance costs for key equipment.
Trend three is to accelerate the integration of advanced control, intelligent equipment, and flexible production lines to meet the production needs of high precision, multiple varieties, and short lead times.XCMG has constructed a flexible welding line for 35 mixed product lines; Shanghai ABB explores human-machine collaborative flexible hybrid assembly, increasing production capacity by 50%.
Trend four is to combine lean management methods with digital tools to improve the efficiency and accuracy of planning, production, quality control, and other control measures. If Ansteel applies the above methods, it can save nearly 5 million yuan in annual costs.
Trend five is the integrated control and self optimization of safety, energy, and environmental protection throughout the factory, which helps promote green and safe production.Leading companies in industries such as steel, petrochemicals, and building materials, such as Baowu, Sinopec, and Hailuo, have all implemented applications.
Trend six is the integration of product lifecycle processes and business collaboration, promoting product iteration, precise innovation, and personalized customization.Companies such as Bosch, Haier, and Global Apparel continue to innovate their products and expand into new markets using the aforementioned methods.
Trend seven is to integrate the entire production process, achieve integrated planning and scheduling, collaborative control, and system optimization.Jiangsu Yonggang has explored integrated control and optimization throughout the entire process, creating benefits exceeding 100 million yuan.
Trend 8 is to rely on "platform+network" to optimize industrial resource allocation, enhance supply chain efficiency, resilience, and value creation capabilities. For example, Huawei explores flexible and resilient ICT supply chain, Weihua explores open equipment collaborative research and development, and Sinopec explores integrated optimization of chemical value chain.
