The reporter recently learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology that in recent years, China's digital economy has flourished, and the industrial scale has continued to grow rapidly, ranking second in the world for several years. According to statistical calculations, from 2012 to 2021, the scale of China's digital economy has grown from 11 trillion yuan to over 45 trillion yuan, and the proportion of digital economy in GDP has increased from 21.6% to 39.8%.

As of the end of May this year, China has built the world's largest and technologically advanced network infrastructure, and all prefecture level cities have fully established optical network cities. The number of gigabit users has exceeded 50 million, the number of 5G base stations has reached 1.7 million, and the number of 5G mobile phone users has exceeded 420 million. In 2021, the added value of electronic information manufacturing industry above designated size in China increased by 15.7% compared to the previous year, reaching a new high in nearly 10 years; The business income of software and information technology service industry, Internet and related service enterprises maintained a high growth rate of 17.7% and 16.9%.

In 2021, the online retail sales of physical goods in China exceeded 10 trillion yuan for the first time, a year-on-year increase of 12.0%; Mobile payment services amounted to 151.228 billion transactions, a year-on-year increase of 22.73%.
