The first 5G unmanned smart mine in China has been put into use
Recently, thanks to the full coverage of 5G signals, the first unmanned mine in China with remote control, autonomous driving, and automated transportation has been put into use at Shandong Gold Mining in Laixi, Qingdao.
In the 500 meter underground mine of Laixi Gold Mine in Shandong Gold Mining, 5G marked base stations and antenna terminals can be seen everywhere. Accompanied by the roar of machines, unmanned mining trucks shuttle back and forth. At the end of the tunnel, a remotely controlled loader is carrying out daily work, and there are no miners underground.
At the information center of Laixi Gold Mine in Qingdao, the remote control driver Jiang Yongsheng is sitting in the "driver's seat", staring at the screen while skillfully operating the remote control lever. It is hard to imagine that the entire operation of the gold mine machinery can be completed by just one driver.
It is reported that mining operations are high-risk occupations, and in the face of mining construction safety threats, Shandong Gold Mining has been actively exploring unmanned mines. By introducing 5G mobile communication network, the unmanned driving and remote control of mining trucks and the integration of shoveling and transportation have been better achieved. This is the first unmanned smart mine underground in China, and compared with traditional manual mining, the safety has been maximally improved.
It is reported that through the application of new generation information technologies such as 5G, digital transformation and upgrading can be promoted, achieving remote machine operation, unmanned mining areas, intelligent management, and green production in mining enterprises. This can greatly improve production efficiency, further reduce production costs, effectively enhance safety levels, and fully meet the urgent needs of the mining industry.
With the help of 5G technology, Shandong Huangjin Laixi Gold Mine will make every effort to build a digital, information-based, and automated smart mine that integrates underground mining, mineral processing, and gold concentrate sales. It will promote high automation and remote control, and significantly improve the level of safety production.
