Time is the best way to see a person clearly
Behind this topic lies the pain of every manager.
Many people have shared with me that they want to recruit a talented person. During the interview, he talked wildly and looked like a flower, so they also had high expectations for him. However, after the recruitment came in, they found that he exaggerated and didn't know how to do it.
Or before promoting someone to a management position, their performance was very good. Once promoted to an important cadre, one will find that this person has changed their face and done many bad things, which makes them feel particularly disheartened.
Use time to judge a person
So how to determine if a person is worth reusing?
Actually, don't listen to what he's saying. Everyone speaks eloquently and uses language to portray their best side during the interview.
Of course, this is normal. It is possible that what he said is true, and it may have undergone multiple embellishments, so do not blindly believe it.
We need to see more with our eyes what he has done, what results he has achieved, and how much he has paid for the results.
Behind this, what is needed is time, because it is not easy to see a person's essence clearly.
The biggest fear of hiring people is recognizing their talents. They are very smart and hardworking. But when he was promoted to a high position, his bad side was magnified due to the aphrodisiac of power.
He may be above and below, and he may have done many things that harm the interests of the company. He may have lost goodwill towards his employees, causing them to doubt the company's cultural values.
At this point, the harm to both the company and employees is significant, so it is important to avoid such situations as much as possible.
It takes time to see a person's essence clearly. It also takes time to verify whether a person has a sense of responsibility or accountability. It takes time to determine whether a person has leadership skills. During the process of obtaining the results, it also takes time to verify whether they align with the company's values.
As the ancient saying goes, 'The distance of the road reveals the power of the horse, but over time it reveals the heart of the person.'.
Time is a mirror that illuminates demons, and time is also a sharpening stone
Huawei has also suffered in terms of personnel. Li Yinan was once considered the successor of Ren Zhengfei, but in the end, he "betrayed".
Later, Ren Zhengfei said in an interview, "From 2001 to 2002, Huawei was on the brink of collapse due to internal and external difficulties. Many people in the company followed the example of Harbor and conspired to steal the company's technology and trade secrets with the help of venture capital
Everyone understands that if you use the wrong people, you will lose everything. So when reusing a talent, it must be tested with time. Especially the more important the location, the more time is needed to observe.
