Shandong has dispatched 12 batches of medical teams totaling 1797 people to assist Hubei
The epidemic is a command, responsibility is a mission!
January 25th (the first day of the first lunar month) is destined to be an extraordinary Spring Festival. Faced with the sudden outbreak of the epidemic, Shandong actively responded to the central call and dispatched the first batch of medical teams to assist the front line of epidemic prevention and control in Hubei in just a few hours. In the past month, our province has stepped up its operational planning and careful deployment, and made the best of its strength to go to war. It has sent 12 batches of medical teams, totaling 1797 people, to Hubei, including backbone elites in breathing, infection, critical care, nursing, epidemiological investigation, laboratory testing, disinfection and sterilization, psychology and other professions, to the front line of anti epidemic in Huanggang, Wuhan, Ezhou and other places.
As envoys of the people of Shandong, they devoted themselves wholeheartedly to medical treatment and disease prevention and control work, using exquisite medical skills and noble medical ethics to protect the health and lives of the people of Hubei, and formed a deep friendship.
Advancing into the Dabie Mountains, creating the 'Shandong speed'
At 2:30 am on January 26th, the first batch of medical team members from our province arrived at Huanggang, the designated aid area of the National Health Commission. At that time, Huanggang was one of the cities in Hubei Province with the most severe epidemic after Wuhan. Faced with the main contradiction of insufficient hospital beds, the Shandong medical team volunteered to the local command center and quickly advanced to the unfinished medical center in the Dabie Mountains. They urgently opened infection isolation wards and opened 100 beds for centralized treatment of patients. On the evening of January 28th at 11 o'clock, the first batch of patients were successfully welcomed, creating the "Shandong speed" of design, renovation, and treatment.
The Shandong medical team has specially established an expert group composed of specialists in critical illness, respiratory care, nursing, hospital infection, etc., to formulate personalized integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine diagnosis and treatment plans based on individual policies and cases. For the treatment of critically ill patients, ICU admission standards and procedures have been developed, and drug regimens and non drug measures have been unified, achieving standardization and homogenization of treatment. As of February 23rd, a total of 385 patients have been treated and 177 have been cured.
After entering Huanggang for one month, the first and second batches of medical teams in our province summarized nearly a hundred experiences in hospital infection prevention and control, and compiled them into a detailed guide for hospital infection prevention and control, which was released. As explorers and advance teams, the prevention and control guidelines of the Shandong medical team provide reference samples for the later arrival of various medical teams in Hubei, and also provide valuable experience for the construction and renovation of local infectious disease hospitals in Huanggang.
In the Optics Valley campus of Tongji Hospital affiliated with Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, 17 medical teams from six provinces and cities are stationed. The sixth and seventh batches of medical teams in our province are all providing support here. The medical team meets clinical needs through scientific scheduling, while saving resources and reducing the risk of infection among medical staff. In terms of management, grid based management has been implemented for patients, achieving comprehensive and three-dimensional management of patients, and improving medical efficiency and quality safety.
Overcoming difficulties with skillful hands and a compassionate heart, fighting against illness
Thick and non breathable protective clothing, a work state of not eating, not drinking water, and not going to the bathroom, and a rigorous and serious attitude that cannot be overlooked, are the norm for Shandong medical team members working in Hubei.
The first batch of medical team members from our province arrived in Huanggang, facing difficulties such as cold weather, inadequate facilities, and lack of materials. With a work style that is particularly capable of enduring hardships, fighting, and dedicating themselves, they overcame difficulties and overcame obstacles.
The eighth batch of medical team members in our province are facing a larger number of patients and heavier tasks at Hanyang Guobo Fangcang Hospital in Wuhan. Here, they implement 24-hour rotation and enter the cabin as a group to ensure safety and efficiency. Sometimes to heal, often to help, always to comfort. They soothe the hearts of patients with compassion, providing warmth akin to that of family, offering meticulous care, and sending batches of recovered patients out of the makeshift shelter.
In the east hospital area of the People's Hospital of Wuhan University, the members of the fifth medical team from Qilu Hospital found that nutritional support could play an important role in the recovery of severe patients with COVID-19. They took the initiative to bring broken wall machines, homogenate meals, milk and other food supplies to the hospital to make additional "nutritional meals" for patients, depending on the patients as family members.
Among the five county-level hospitals in Huanggang that have received targeted assistance from our province, the members of the ninth, tenth, and eleventh batches of medical teams have already been deployed. Facing elderly patients in rural areas who are unable to speak or read due to the more difficult work and living environment, they slow down their speech, demonstrate their movements, and wholeheartedly provide them with high-quality diagnosis and treatment services.
On the afternoon of February 25th, 15 ICU backbone members from the 12th batch of medical teams dispatched to Wuhan in our province were transferred to Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital for treatment work. Before admission, 15 team members named themselves the "Sharp Knife Team", hoping to strike the heart of the illness like a sharp knife.
Helping each other with all our resources, just because of our blood ties
Due to an epidemic, the people of Shandong and Hubei provinces, separated by thousands of miles, have formed a deep bond and formed a profound connection.
After the implementation of the national "one province, one city" aid program, our province immediately established a counterpart support command center in Huanggang to communicate, coordinate, and ensure the supply of materials. Donate 32 million yuan to Huanggang to support epidemic prevention and control at the Dabie Mountain Area Medical Center; Donate 100 million yuan to build 100 ICU wards in Huanggang related counties and cities; Urgently raise medical supplies worth approximately 5 million yuan. Donate two key nucleic acid detection equipment for COVID-19 prevention and control worth 730000 yuan in Huanggang. As of February 17th, our province has cumulatively donated 180 tons of vegetables, 100 tons of garlic, and 10 tons of eggs to Huanggang. On February 25th, our province donated another 400 million yuan to further increase support for the epidemic prevention and control work in Huanggang City.
The local people are grateful for the support and assistance provided by Shandong. The first confirmed patient to leave the medical center in the Dabie Mountains and be cured by the Shandong medical team expressed gratitude with the words' Thank you Shandong people '. On February 24th, Luotian County in Huanggang City welcomed the first batch of medical team members from our province who had been working continuously for 31 days to the local area for rest and recuperation with the highest level of etiquette. In the Optics Valley Hospital of Tongji Hospital, a patient with COVID-19 repeatedly proposed to donate reagents and materials to the sixth batch of medical teams in our province to thank the medical staff of our province for their meticulous care.
