White Paper on China's Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry Released at Weichai
On June 26th, the China Hydrogen Energy Alliance released the first "White Paper on China's Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Industry" at Weichai Group, which is the first high-quality research achievement on the entire hydrogen energy industry chain in China.
The white paper systematically studied the entire industry chain of hydrogen energy and fuel cells for the first time, proposed three major roadmaps for the hydrogen energy and fuel cell industry, technology, and policies, and put forward five development initiatives for China's hydrogen energy and fuel cells to benchmark the world. Hydrogen, as a clean and efficient energy source, is considered an important development direction for future energy due to its wide application and flexible storage. The white paper proposes that by 2035, 10 national level hydrogen energy demonstration zones will be established nationwide, gradually improving hydrogen energy infrastructure and promoting hydrogen energy to account for 5.9% of the total mid-range energy consumption in the country.
Yu Zhuoping, the director of the China Hydrogen Energy Expert Committee and assistant to the president of Tongji University, said, "With the accelerated development of hydrogen energy and fuel cells, we hope to have a top-level design at the national level. It is understood that Shandong is the largest province in terms of industrial by-product hydrogen production, with an annual output of 4 million tons, accounting for one-fifth of the country's total. Last year, Shandong launched a major project to convert old and new kinetic energy, and the development of the hydrogen energy industry was one of the important driving points. By 2020, Shandong will build 20 hydrogen refueling stations, with 2000 hydrogen powered vehicles and a range of 600 kilometers. Weichai is the first in Shandong to launch a demonstration project for the industrialization of fuel cells in the entire industry chain, and projects such as hydrogen fuel cell industrial parks and hydrogen refueling stations are being promoted in an orderly manner. In addition, with the help of high-quality resources from its global layout, Weichai has mastered three core technologies, including solid oxide fuel cells, to promote the construction of a billion dollar new energy vehicle industry cluster.
