Notice on the Nomination of the 2026 "Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Award"

All relevant units:

The nomination process for the 2026 Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Award will be officially launched on January 1, 2026. The Office of Science and Technology Awards for the Machinery Industry will begin accepting nominated projects from the date of this notice. The relevant matters are hereby notified as follows:

1、 Reward scope

（1） Technical Invention Award;

（2） The Science and Technology Progress Award includes:

1. Technical development projects;

2. Worker technology innovation projects;

3. Standards, testing, and soft science projects;

4. Books, scientific journals, and popular science projects.

2、 Nomination method

The "Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Award" implements a nomination system and does not accept self recommendation. The candidates are nominated by the following units:

（1） Professional branches of the China Machinery Industry Federation, local associations of the machinery industry in various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government, as well as the China Machinery Industry Federation System Industry Association (Association);

（2） Professional branches of the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineering, mechanical engineering societies of various provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government;

（3） Large enterprise groups under the vice president unit of the China Machinery Industry Federation are limited to nominating their own unit and subordinate units as the first completion units for projects;

（4） Research institutes (including machinery industry transformation institutes) and science and technology departments of higher education institutions are limited to nominating their own units as the first completion units for projects.

The nominating unit shall fill in the specific nomination opinions, nomination award types, and nomination levels in the "Nomination Form for Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Awards" (2026 version), and have the person in charge of the award work of the nominating unit sign and affix the official seal of the nominating unit.

Specific units eligible for nomination can be viewed in the "List of Nominating Units" column on the right side of the homepage of the "China Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award" website (www.cmiao. com. cn), and the contact information of the nominating units can be viewed when creating projects in the application system.

3、 Nomination material requirements

The Nomination Letter for the Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Award (2026 edition) is the main basis for the evaluation of the Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Award, including the main components and attachments.

(I) main part

The project application unit shall log into the mechanical award application system, fill in and upload relevant materials online according to the instructions required by the Nomination Form for Science and Technology Award of Mechanical Industry. The nomination letter shall be complete and true, and the text description shall be accurate and objective.

(II) Accessories

1. Necessary accessories

(1) Technical evaluation certificate: refers to the scientific and technological achievements appraisal certificate or evaluation report issued by a qualified third-party appraisal (evaluation) legal entity in the past three years (after January 1, 2023), and at least one technical evaluation certificate shall be provided for each project.

(2) Science and technology novelty search report: refers to the science and technology novelty search report issued by the science and technology novelty search consulting unit approved by the relevant state departments in the past three years (after January 1, 2023).

(3) Inspection report: refers to the inspection (inspection, test, test) and other reports issued by a third-party legal entity approved by the relevant state departments and qualified for quality supervision, inspection and testing in the past three years (after January 1, 2023).

(4) Core intellectual property certificate: refers to the certification documents of the 20 core intellectual property rights listed in the nomination letter "Catalogue of 7. Major Intellectual Property Rights and Standard Specifications", such as patent certificates, standards, etc.; those exceeding 20 items in the list are uploaded as other attachments in the form of tables.

(5) Application certificate of results: at least one application certificate provided by the application unit that can prove that the overall technology of the project has been applied for more than 2 years (before December 31, 2023) shall be provided, and the application certificate shall be stamped with the official seal of the application unit (legal entity). If the application certificate contains economic benefits, it shall be stamped with the special financial seal of the unit.

2. Other Annexes

(6) Other supporting materials. Including other relevant evidence that can support the project's scientific and technological innovation, economic benefits and the contribution of the completion person.

(7) For technical innovation projects for workers, please refer to the Supplementary Requirements for Nomination of Technical Innovation Projects for Workers in the Nomination Manual for the 2026 "Science and Technology Award for Mechanical Industry".

(8) Standards, testing and soft science projects. For specific requirements, please refer to the "Supplementary Requirements for Nomination of Standards, Testing and Soft Science Projects" in the "2026" Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Award "Nomination Workbook".

(9) For specific requirements for books, sci-tech periodicals and popular science projects, please refer to the Supplementary Requirements for Nomination of Books, sci-tech periodicals and popular science projects in the Nomination Manual of the 2026 "Science and Technology Award for Mechanical Industry".

The total number of attached materials shall not exceed 80 pages. The content of the electronic attachment shall be consistent with the written attachment and submitted in JPG format, with a single file size not exceeding 300KB.

(III) submission requirements

1. After the main part of the nomination form is submitted through the system, the official version with the watermark of "Science and Technology Award for Mechanical Industry" will be generated and printed (the content shall be consistent with that of the electronic nomination form), the corresponding columns will be signed and sealed, and all signed and sealed pages will be scanned and uploaded to the system.

2. The main parts and accessories of the nomination book are bound into a book (single and double sides are not limited), the paper size A4, imitation song style small number 4, vertical left side binding, no additional cover. Submit a set of paper nomination forms (main part attachment) in a combined version.

3. All nomination materials will not be returned. If the nomination unit or reporting unit needs to keep a file, please back it up by yourself.

4、 Other matters

1. Confidential projects involving national defense and national security and automobile vehicle projects do not belong to the nomination scope of the "Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award.

2. The same person can only participate in the declaration as the completion of one project (no distinction is made between awards) in the same year.

3. Civil servants and persons managed by reference to the the People's Republic of China Civil Service Act may not be nominated as project completion persons.

Projects that have been accepted and entered the evaluation process for the 4.2025 "Machinery Industry Science and Technology Award" shall not be nominated again in 2026, but shall be nominated again the following year.

5. The top three finalists of the project nominated for the technological invention award must hold invention patents directly related to the main technological invention points of the project.

6. The same project has won the national science and technology award, provincial (municipal) level science and technology award or other social science and technology award shall not be nominated repeatedly.

In principle, the main intellectual property rights used in the award-winning projects that have won the "Science and Technology Award for the Machinery Industry" shall not be used again.

8. In order to enhance the scientific seriousness of the reward work, all nominated items shall not be modified after passing the formal examination and publicity without objection, and shall not be revoked after entering the evaluation link.

9. In the process of nominating projects, the nominating unit shall not charge fees in any way.

10. Documents required in the application and nomination process can be viewed and obtained in the "Download of Relevant Documents" column of the project application system.

5. declaration and nomination time

1. Online declaration, nomination time:

The system will be opened at 8:00 on January 1, 2026.

(1) Reporting unit system: the closing time of the reporting system is 18:00 on March 31, and the closing time of the "Upload Signature and Seal Page" module is 18:00 on April 15;

(2) Nomination unit system: the closing time of the nomination system is 18:00 on April 3;

All reporting units and nominating units are requested to complete the reporting and nomination work within the specified time limit, and the system platform will not be accepted after the deadline is closed.

2. Submission Time of Paper Nomination Form: Each nominating unit shall submit or express a set of paper nomination form (main part attachment) and a summary table of nominated items (stamped with the official seal of the unit) to the Science and Technology Award Office of the Machinery Industry before April 15, 2026, which will not be accepted within the time limit.
