Shandong's new energy vehicle production doubled in the first half of the year
In the first half of this year, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group's sales of new energy products increased by 245% year-on-year. The picture shows China National Heavy Duty Truck Group's new energy products.
In 1960, the first batch of Yellow River brand JN150 cargo trucks manufactured by the former Jinan Automobile Manufacturing Factory were delivered, ending the history of China's inability to produce heavy-duty vehicles. Today, 65 years later, new energy vehicles have entered thousands of households as excellent products in the Shandong industrial chain.
On August 20th, the Provincial Government Information Office held a press conference on the "Shandong Good Brand on the Industry Chain" - New Energy Vehicle Industry Chain at the Laiwu plant of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group. From the innovation process told by four enterprises, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, Weiqiao Automotive Technology, Tedian, and Fengyuan Lithium Energy, the "password" for the automotive province to steadily enter the "new" journey can be found.
Breakthrough from a single battery to a complete vehicle chain
What can be done in five minutes? In the final assembly workshop of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Jinan Truck Manufacturing Company, this is the time from the assembly of two cars' components to the production of the entire vehicle. Intelligent robotic arms perform complex and precise operations; A production line can achieve flexible manufacturing of multiple vehicle models... These hard technologies are overwhelming. The predecessor of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group was Jinan Automobile Manufacturing Plant.
From pioneering the national heavy-duty truck industry with JN150 in 1960, to laying the foundation for standardization in China's heavy-duty truck industry with the Steyr project in 1983, and to establishing an international capital platform through the Hong Kong IPO in 2007, we have built an industrial ecosystem covering the entire field of new energy commercial vehicles. ”Zhao Hai, General Manager of Shandong Heavy Industry Group China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Jinan Truck Co., Ltd., introduced that in the first half of this year, the sales of new energy products of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group reached 15000 units, a year-on-year increase of 245%, among which the sales of new energy heavy-duty trucks increased by 226%. The production of new energy vehicles by truck companies increased by 194.7% year-on-year, forming a unique advantage of "technological self-reliance, product diversification, and market globalization".
There are "old players" like China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, as well as "new forces" in car manufacturing. In 2023, Weiqiao Entrepreneurship Group officially entered the new energy vehicle industry and established Weiqiao New Energy Vehicle Technology Group the following year.
We are the only automotive company in the world that possesses the full aluminum industry chain, vehicle manufacturing, and recycling capabilities. When it comes to the ecological layout around lightweight aluminum materials, Gu Zhihong, Deputy General Manager of the Passenger Vehicle Division of Shandong Weiqiao New Energy Vehicle Technology Group Co., Ltd., said that aluminum's "high value preservation and easy recycling" properties make it have broad prospects in terms of economy and carbon reduction. At present, Weiqiao Automobile's subsidiary brands, including Jishi and Lingtu, have entered markets in nearly 30 countries. This year, the combination of lightweighting, greenization, and intelligence has enabled the BAW Ruisheng flagship in the light vehicle sector to achieve a significant increase in market share from 23% to 37.9%, topping the sales champion in the segmented market.
The new energy vehicle industry in Shandong can drive upstream and downstream development with its own efforts, not only because of its ability to manufacture cars, but also because of systematic breakthroughs in multiple links of the entire chain, such as lithium mining and resource extraction, component manufacturing, vehicle production and manufacturing, and subsequent services. To ensure worry free operation of new energy vehicles, a charging network is essential, "said Zhao Jian, Vice President of TeDian New Energy Co., Ltd., bringing a set of data: TeDian's charging network has spread to 366 cities, with nearly 800000 charging terminals. In the past decade, Shandong Fengyuan Lithium Energy Technology Co., Ltd. has continued to focus on the production and research and development of lithium positive electrode materials, ensuring that new energy vehicles have a "strong heart": Fengyuan Lithium Energy's director Wan Fuxin introduced that its lithium positive electrode materials have been built and are under construction with a production capacity of 315000 tons, ranking among the top in the domestic industry and continuously serving global leading battery enterprises.
Holding the technological trump card, forging a unique weapon
In the first half of this year, Shandong's production of new energy vehicles reached 532000 units, a year-on-year increase of 107.1%, ranking fourth in the country and increasing by five places compared to last year. The flagship products of various car companies are all a fusion of cutting-edge intelligent manufacturing, digital technology, and green energy.
The industry trend behind it is that the anxious period of "price for quantity" for many years is fading away, and the new energy vehicle industry is accelerating its return to the development essence led by core technology. Four companies aim to solve practical problems and accelerate technological iteration and quality upgrades, thus forming their own "unique treasures".
At the press conference, Zhao Hai dissected China National Heavy Duty Truck Group's "technical code" using a self-developed TX central drive tractor as an incision: energy consumption reduced by about 15%, battery discharge capacity up to 600kWh, range up to 450 kilometers, and charging from 10% to 80% in just half an hour, greatly improving transportation efficiency. At present, we have broken through a batch of bottleneck technologies such as high-voltage electronic control systems and high-efficiency electric drive systems for new energy commercial vehicles, achieving full scene coverage and self-developed self-control of core systems
Taking the next generation of Jishi cars as an example, the proportion of aluminum materials will increase to 50%, the body weight can be reduced by 15%, the torsional stiffness can be increased by 11%, and the range can be increased by 10%. The product competitiveness will also be qualitatively improved. Gu Zhihong revealed that with "Aluminum Bank" as the core of the industry chain, Weiqiao commercial vehicles will vigorously promote the circular use of vehicles in the future, exploring the transformation of the traditional "high carbon" fields of smelting and transportation to "low-carbon".
This year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Safety Requirements for Power Batteries for Electric Vehicles", which is known as the "strictest safety order in history" in the industry. In addition to battery manufacturers and car companies, charging operators are also closely related to the safe use of batteries, "Zhao Jian said. Especially for those old cars that have been on the road for many years and are" sick ", we have developed two layers of protection. The first layer is to conduct big data health checks on the vehicle and battery every time they charge, and to issue timely warnings in case of abnormal indicators; The other layer is to actively protect the two hardware layers of battery management system and charging management.
High voltage single crystal is one of the core materials that make up the positive electrode of new energy vehicle power batteries. Its function is to improve the performance of power batteries, thereby optimizing the vehicle's range, safety, and fast charging capability. The high-voltage single crystal ternary material we are developing can increase the charging cut-off voltage of the positive electrode material from 4.2V to 4.35V, with an energy density of up to 250Wh/kg, which is about 20% higher than traditional ternary materials. It can store more electricity in batteries of the same volume. ”Wanfuxin mentioned that Fengyuan Lithium Energy has been conducting research and development in accordance with the concept of "applying one generation, pre researching one generation". In addition to mainstream materials, it is also developing next-generation technologies such as lithium manganese iron phosphate and positive electrode materials for sodium ion batteries.
It is expected that the scale of the new energy vehicle industry in the province will reach 500 billion yuan by the end of the year
The healthy development of an industry cannot be achieved without a high degree of synergy in the industrial chain. Taking China National Heavy Duty Truck Group as the "chain leader" of the automotive industry chain in the province, we aim to integrate core components upwards and drive the development of supporting enterprises downwards; Collaborate with universities, research institutions, and upstream and downstream enterprises to build innovation platforms, promote technology transformation and talent aggregation, attract supporting projects to land in Shandong, and drive the overall industrial chain cluster towards high-end.
The new energy vehicle industry is not only related to the dream of becoming a strong automobile country, but also involves multiple strategic considerations such as green development, energy security, and technological competition, "said He Qiang, Director of the Equipment Industry Department of the Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology. Shandong not only strengthens policy supply around the development of new energy vehicles, but also strives to create a situation where local forces and new forces promote each other and complement each other's advantages. Different enterprises are accelerating the flow of talent and technology in market competition and cooperation, promoting sustained industrial progress.
Before 2004, Shandong had only commercial vehicle companies such as China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, Zhongtong Bus, and Foton Motor, with a production capacity of about 200000 vehicles. Nowadays, in the field of new energy commercial vehicles, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group, FAW Jiefang, BAIC Foton, and Tangjun Ouling, the four backbone enterprises in Shandong, focus on segmented markets and accelerate the transformation of new energy in products such as heavy trucks, light trucks, and small and medium-sized trucks. In the first half of the year, their production increased by 50% year-on-year; Leading domestic companies such as BYD, Geely, and Chery have rapidly released their production capacity in the passenger car field, deploying high-end and popular new models such as Tengshi, Haifeng, and Yaoguang, resulting in a significant increase in output, with a year-on-year growth of 140% in the first half of the year.
On this basis, Shandong continuously optimizes the layout of its industrial chain, and has initially formed a development pattern of "two cores leading and multi-point support" with Jinan and Qingdao as the leaders, and Yantai, Weifang, Zibo, Rizhao, Linyi, Liaocheng and other supporting coordinated development. A number of characteristic industrial clusters such as lithium batteries in Zaozhuang and Tai'an, tires in Dongying, automotive parts in Yantai, and lightweight aluminum materials in Binzhou continue to grow in this process.
It is expected that by the end of this year, the scale of the new energy vehicle industry in the province can reach 500 billion yuan. As the place where the first heavy vehicle "drove out", Shandong is writing more stories of transformation from scratch and from weakness to strength.
