In 2023, the export value of mechanical and electrical products in Shandong Province was 893.83 billion yuan, contributing 278.8% to the province's export growth

On January 17th, at a press conference of the Shandong Provincial Government, Shi Yong, Deputy Director of Qingdao Customs, introduced that mechanical and electrical products have always been Shandong's advantageous export products. In 2023, the export value of mechanical and electrical products in Shandong Province reached 893.83 billion yuan, an increase of 7%, accounting for 46% of the total export value, driving export growth by 3.1 percentage points, and contributing 278.8% to the province's export growth.

In 2023, the export value of mechanical and electrical products from Qingdao, Yantai, and Weifang will rank among the top three in the province, accounting for 25.6%, 15.9%, and 12.3% of the total export value of mechanical and electrical products, respectively. Automotive spare parts, game consoles, automobiles, and home appliances are advantageous export products with strong competitiveness in Shandong, with export values of 139.12 billion yuan, 85.68 billion yuan, 49.04 billion yuan, and 44.76 billion yuan, respectively, all achieving double-digit growth. In addition, the export value of integrated circuits, ships, and medical instruments has also grown rapidly, with growth rates of 139.2%, 29.7%, and 16.3%, respectively.

Shandong's electromechanical products are exported to over 230 countries and regions worldwide. In 2023, Shandong's exports of electromechanical products to the United States, ASEAN, European Union, and South Korea reached 125.24 billion yuan, 124.31 billion yuan, 121.16 billion yuan, and 54.65 billion yuan respectively, accounting for nearly 50% of the total value of electromechanical product exports. Among them, exports to the European Union and ASEAN achieved double-digit growth.

2023 is the starting year for Shandong to build a green, low-carbon, and high-quality development pilot zone. The highly anticipated "new three types" of foreign trade, such as electric manned vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and solar cells, have become a new trend in industrial development and a new driving force for foreign trade growth.

According to customs statistics, in 2023, the export value of Shandong's "new three types" of foreign trade will reach 9.39 billion yuan, a significant increase of 47.3% year-on-year. Among them, the growth rate of lithium-ion batteries and electric manned vehicles will both exceed 100%.
