Three clusters in Shandong have been selected as national advanced manufacturing clusters

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently officially announced the list of 45 national advanced manufacturing clusters, with three clusters from Shandong selected, namely Qingdao Intelligent Home Appliance Cluster, Qingdao Rail Transit Equipment Cluster, and Weifang Power Equipment Cluster.

The Advanced Manufacturing Cluster Competition organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is considered a "national team" selection competition for advanced manufacturing clusters. It adopts a "horse racing" approach to select winners from leaders in different industry fields. Since 2019, three rounds have been organized, resulting in a total of 45 final winning clusters. It is reported that in 2021, the leading industry output value of 45 national level clusters reached 19 trillion yuan, and 18 national manufacturing innovation centers were laid out and constructed, accounting for 70% of the total number of national level innovation centers. They have more than 1700 national level technology innovation carriers, cultivated and created more than 170 national level single champion enterprises, and more than 2200 national level specialized, refined, special and new "little giant" enterprises, which are important carriers for promoting the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.

In the next three years, Shandong will select and recognize around 20 provincial-level advanced manufacturing clusters as active forces in striving to create national advanced manufacturing clusters, with Jinan Biomedical Cluster, Yantai Green Petrochemical Industry Cluster, Binzhou Aluminum Industry Cluster, and other key promotion targets.
