Beijing, August 6 (Xinhua) -- In 2024, China's large-scale specialized, refined, and new "little giant" industrial enterprises achieved a revenue of 4.84 trillion yuan (RMB), a year-on-year increase of 3.9%.
On the 6th, Dan Zhongde, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology of China and Director of the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Administration, wrote an article in the media, disclosing the above information. The article states that the development scale of specialized, refined, unique and new small and medium-sized enterprises continues to grow, becoming a key force in promoting economic growth. As of the end of 2024, there will be over 140000 specialized, refined, and new small and medium-sized enterprises in China, and 14600 specialized, refined, and new "little giant" enterprises. The "little giant" enterprises account for about 3% of the total number of industrial small and medium-sized enterprises above designated size in China, contributing 6% of operating income and 9.7% of profits, becoming a new driving force for economic growth.
Specialized and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises have outstanding growth capabilities, demonstrating strong growth resilience and vitality. In 2024, more than 80% of newly listed A-share companies will be specialized, refined, unique, and new small and medium-sized enterprises, with a total of 2028 specialized, refined, unique, and new small and medium-sized enterprises listed on the A-share market; 146 specialized and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises entered the global unicorn list, accounting for 43% of the number of unicorn companies in China that year.
In recent years, the innovation capability of China's specialized, refined, innovative and small and medium-sized enterprises has accelerated and become an important source of innovation. In 2024, the average R&D investment of "Little Giant" enterprises accounted for 7% of their operating revenue, with 327400 invention patents and an average of 22 authorized invention patents, a year-on-year increase of 30%, far higher than enterprises of the same scale. More than 2000 "little giant" enterprises have undertaken major national science and technology projects.
In addition, specialized and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises play a key role in stabilizing and strengthening the chain. Among the "Little Giant" enterprises, manufacturing enterprises account for 88%, 60% are located in the industrial infrastructure sector, over 80% of enterprises are distributed in strategic emerging industry chains, and 90% of enterprises directly support at least three well-known domestic and foreign large enterprises.
Dan Zhongde stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will comprehensively promote the "five empowerment" of innovation, digital empowerment, service empowerment, talent empowerment, and ecological empowerment, continuously polish the "golden signboard" of specialization, refinement, novelty, and innovation, and promote new breakthroughs in the cultivation of specialized, refined, novelty, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
