Green industrial development during the 14th Five Year Plan, with the help of digital technology!
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released the "14th Five Year Plan for Industrial Green Development", elaborating on the overall idea of industrial green development during the 14th Five Year Plan period, clarifying development goals and specific work arrangements such as continuous reduction of carbon emission intensity and significant reduction of pollutant emission intensity. Specially proposed to drive the transformation of production methods through digital transformation.
How can digital technology help promote green industrial development during the 14th Five Year Plan period? The reporter conducted an interview on this matter.
The plan points out that by 2025, significant achievements will be made in the green and low-carbon transformation of industrial structure and production methods, green and low-carbon technology and equipment will be widely applied, energy and resource utilization efficiency will be significantly improved, and the level of green manufacturing will be comprehensively enhanced. It is clear that new generation information technologies such as industrial Internet, big data and 5G should be used to improve energy, resources and environmental management, deepen the digital application of production and manufacturing processes, and enable green manufacturing.
Digital transformation is a major trend. The deep integration of new generation information technology with traditional industries is becoming a new driving force for industrial energy conservation, carbon reduction, and efficiency improvement, "said Wang Xiaoyang, Deputy Director of the Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Currently, a number of typical applications of digital technology transformation driving the systematic improvement of energy and resource efficiency have emerged in traditional industries such as electricity, steel, and petrochemicals.
In early November, in the factory area of Hezhong New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. located in Tongxiang, Zhejiang, employees of the company were busy debugging the newly produced prototype vehicle, while power supply company staff completed the capacity increase of the transformer on the side.
Faced with the rapid growth of production capacity leading to an increase in electricity consumption, State Grid Zhejiang Tongxiang Power Supply Company uses big data such as energy consumption and production to grasp electricity demand, provide personalized services, and propose new clean energy electricity consumption plans such as photovoltaics to help enterprises reduce emissions.
Collaborating with UFIDA to build a smart factory, optimizing production scheduling through a load scheduling system, Fujian Petrochemical's production line has significantly reduced energy and power consumption.
The application of big data, industrial Internet and other technologies in green production is deepening.
"During the 14th Five Year Plan period, we should pay more attention to digging the potential of digital technology in energy conservation and emission reduction." Wang Xiaoyang said that the use of 5G, industrial Internet, cloud computing and other new generation information technologies will be deeply integrated with product design, manufacturing, use, recycling and other links, to promote enterprises and parks to implement the whole process, whole life cycle refined management, and drive the improvement of energy and resource efficiency system.
"Among them, it is very important to promote the intelligent perception of key process equipment in the manufacturing process and realize intelligent analysis and fine management of the production process." Wang Xiaoyang said that he will accelerate the development of a number of typical application scenarios and promote standardized "industrial Internet plus+green manufacturing" solutions for key areas such as energy conservation, carbon reduction and water conservation.
Accelerating the layout of green and intelligent data and computing facilities, reducing energy consumption of new infrastructure such as data centers, is also one of the directions.
PUE is one of the indicators for evaluating the energy efficiency of data centers. The closer the PUE value is to 1, the higher the degree of greenization of a data center.
The "Glacier" phase change cooling technology developed by Baidu introduces the concept of oil-free into the refrigeration cycle system, which improves energy efficiency by more than 40% compared to traditional chilled water systems. In 2020, Baidu's self built data center achieved an average annual PUE value of 1.14.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has previously stated that it will take three years to basically form a new development pattern of data centers with reasonable layout, advanced technology, green and low-carbon, and computing power scale that is compatible with the growth of the digital economy. In terms of reducing emissions in future data centers, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has set targets, specifying that by the end of 2025, the PUE value of newly built large and super large data centers will decrease to below 1.3.
In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has proposed to coordinate green and low-carbon basic data and industrial big data resources, establish product lifecycle green and low-carbon basic data platforms by industry, conduct carbon footprint, water footprint, and environmental impact analysis and evaluation based on platform data, and support enterprises and parks to promote green transformation through digital transformation.
