Recently, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd. (ZPMC) announced that its SAP ERP (Phase I) project, in collaboration with Alibaba Cloud, has been successfully launched. This marks the beginning of a new era for Zhenhua Heavy Industry on the path of enterprise digital transformation.
Zhenhua Heavy Industry is a shining business card of Chinese equipment manufacturing enterprises, mainly producing large container machinery for ports and bulk cargo loading and unloading machinery for ores and coal. At present, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has shore and yard bridges for nearly 300 container terminals in 101 countries and regions around the world, occupying an absolute advantage in the global market share and ranking first in the port machinery industry market share for more than 20 consecutive years.
Since 2015, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has attached great importance to information technology construction and decided to adopt cloud computing to support the digital construction of enterprises. Operating enterprise IT through traditional self built infrastructure requires the procurement of various hardware and software, including physical servers, SAN storage, switches, security, and more. In addition, enterprises also need to manage various operation and maintenance issues such as computer room power supply, cabinet heat dissipation, network access, equipment inspection, and network security. IT construction and operation costs have become a significant financial burden for enterprises.
In order to fully utilize the global network infrastructure and reduce overall IT costs, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has decided to deploy its core business systems on public clouds after nearly half a year of research and multi-party evaluation, with Alibaba Cloud as the partner.
In March 2018, Zhenhua Heavy Industry officially launched and implemented its ERP project with SAP S/4 HANA as the core. The overall project scope of ERP covers core business modules such as sales, projects, procurement, warehousing, and production. The project team ultimately achieved the construction of the company's core ERP information platform.
Due to the adoption of Alibaba Cloud services, Zhenhua Heavy Industry has reduced the costs of data center management and equipment operation and maintenance; By deploying ERP applications and HANA high availability architecture in different availability zones within the same city, the continuity of ERP core business has been effectively guaranteed; In addition, by quickly building the overall security protection system of the cloud ERP system through the cloud shield security protection capability, Zhenhua Heavy Industry can focus more on the implementation of digital strategies.
It is reported that Zhenhua's decision to deploy the SAP system on Alibaba's public cloud has undergone multiple rounds of verification. Since the establishment of a strategic partnership with SAP in April 2016, Alibaba Cloud has accumulated a wealth of experience in helping customers deploy SAP applications and HANA databases on public clouds. Whether it is the migration of new SAP systems to the cloud or the migration of existing SAP systems to the cloud, Alibaba Cloud provides customers with a very good user experience.
At present, Alibaba Cloud helps Chinese enterprises with overseas business build globally integrated SAP enterprise applications through intelligent gateways and global enterprise networks. It can also provide efficient and economical cloud backup solutions for SAP customers through HBR hybrid cloud backup services.
