Weichai and Kamaz collaborate to embark on a new journey

On the morning of May 14, 2019, the launch ceremony of the Weichai Kamaz cooperation project was held in Beijing. Tan Xuguang, Chairman of Weichai Group, and Sergei Gogol, General Manager of Kamaz Group, signed an agreement.

On September 11, 2018, under the joint witness of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Putin, Weichai and Kamas signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Vladivostok, Russia. The two parties intend to jointly establish a joint venture company to jointly produce Industrial engines inject "Chinese power" into the promotion of local economic development ".

Taking advantage of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, Weichai has continuously increased its efforts to "go global" in recent years, and has successively explored international production capacity cooperation and new local manufacturing models in India, Myanmar, Ethiopia and Belarus. Russia is an important economic and trade partner of China in Northeast Asia and an important site of the "the Belt and Road" initiative. As Weichai's "doorstep market" in Northeast Asia, after years of cultivation, Weichai's brand and products have won the favor of local customers in Russia.

Kamaz Group is a Russian manufacturer of heavy-duty trucks and buses, with a 50 year history of heavy vehicle manufacturing and an annual output of over 40000 units. Weichai, which has developed for more than 70 years, has a golden industrial chain of resources such as heavy-duty trucks, engines, transmissions, and axles, and the cooperation space between the two sides is extensive. In the early stage, both parties signed a strategic cooperation agreement. In addition to planning to jointly establish Kamaz Weichai Co., Ltd. in the Yaroslavl Free Trade Zone to engage in the production and sales of industrial diesel and gas engines, the two parties also plan to further seek cooperation in the fields of transmissions, axles, etc.

The signing of the cooperation agreement in Beijing marks the official launch of the collaborative project between the two parties. Under the guidance of China's "the Belt and Road" initiative, the story of Weichai and Kamaz is about to unfold.
