The equipment manufacturing industry, as a vital tool of the country, is the core support for the economic transformation and upgrading of the Yellow River Basin. In order to deeply implement the national strategy and promote the deep integration of innovation chain, industrial chain, and supply chain in the equipment manufacturing field within the basin, after visiting and learning from the advanced experience and advantageous practices of relevant business associations in Qinghai Province, Gansu Province, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Henan Province, etc., and achieving phased results, from August 13th to 15th, the Shandong Equipment Manufacturing Association, led by Secretary General Su Hongxing, went to Shanxi Machinery and Electronics Industry Federation, Shaanxi Machinery Industry Federation, and Shaanxi National Civil Military Integration Enterprise Chamber of Commerce for benchmarking learning and exchange, injecting new momentum into the high-quality development of the equipment manufacturing industry in the Yellow River Basin through cross regional collaboration.
As key nodes connecting the east and west of the Yellow River Basin, Shanxi and Shaanxi have deeply rooted their regional industrial genes in the development of equipment manufacturing industry, while also carrying the national strategic mission. Shanxi has anchored the main direction of revitalizing and upgrading the manufacturing industry, and established a "564" new equipment industry system. Traditional industries such as intelligent coal mining machines, heavy machinery, textile machinery, and coal chemical equipment are moving towards high-end, intelligent, green, and clustered development. In 2024, the revenue of five provincial-level key industrial chains of high-end equipment in Shanxi exceeded 203.26 billion yuan, and the total revenue of five provincial-level characteristic professional towns of equipment reached 48.5 billion yuan.
As a highland of western equipment manufacturing industry, Shaanxi will demonstrate strong development resilience with a regional GDP of 3.5 trillion yuan and a growth rate of 7.8% in industrial added value above designated size in 2024. In recent years, Shaanxi Province has continuously made breakthroughs in high-end fields such as aviation, aerospace, new energy vehicles, power equipment, CNC machine tools, and additive manufacturing. Baohantian Industrial Mother Machine and Yu'ening Modern Coal Chemical Industry have been selected as national advanced manufacturing clusters, and Xi'an has become one of the first pilot projects for new manufacturing technology transformation in China. Leading enterprises such as Shaanxi Automobile, Fast, and Shaangu have led industry innovation, demonstrating the hard core strength of the western equipment manufacturing industry.
This inter provincial brotherhood association exchange and docking learning is a concrete practice of Shandong actively integrating into the national Yellow River Basin strategy and promoting regional coordination. We have reached a broad consensus with Shanxi and Shaanxi brotherhood associations: firstly, we need to deepen the coordination of industrial and supply chains, based on the industrial characteristics of Shanxi, Shaanxi, and Shandong. Coal equipment in Shanxi, aerospace equipment in Shaanxi, and high-end equipment in Shandong can form complementary chains, enhancing the cooperation and win-win situation of the equipment manufacturing industry supply chain in the Yellow River Basin; Secondly, we need to strengthen the mutual learning of experience between associations and industries, and engage in extensive interactive cooperation in areas such as industry technological innovation, expert database construction, standardization construction, and industry docking and exchange activities; The third is to reach a strategic consensus on preparing to establish the "Yellow River Basin Equipment Manufacturing Industry Alliance". It is planned to hold the alliance establishment conference in Jinan at the end of November this year. In the next step, the association will use the alliance as a link to promote the deep integration of equipment manufacturing industry chain enterprises in the Yellow River Basin into the national unified market, and provide industry strength for the high-quality development of high-end equipment manufacturing industry in the Yellow River Basin.
